Download files:

Procedure

Step 1: Download and extract both the above files to a convenient location on your PC. After extracting the firmware package (.zip file), you'll see these files in it:

Step 2: Power off your Galaxy Note 8 completely.

Step 3: Now boot your device into download mode. Refer:

Step 4: Keeping the phone in download mode, connect it to your PC with a standard USB cable.

Step 5: Go to the downloaded folder on your PC and launch the downloaded ‘ Odin Multi Downloader3-v3.12′ software which you've just received after extraction.

As you launch it, the ID:COM section located at the top left corner will turn light blue. Also an Added message will appear in the message box window. This will confirm that your Galaxy Note 8 has been successfully connected to your PC.

Note: If such thing doesn't happen then it's more likely to be a problem with the mobile specific drivers. So manually install the USB drivers from the links given in the Pre-Requisites section. If the problem still persists try changing the USB cable or the USB port.

Step 6: Now click on the Options tab located on the Odin window and tick the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options. Tick only these two options and keep all the other options as they are.

Note: Do not tick the Re-partition option as it might increase the risk of bricking your phone. Don't use the PIT tab either.

Step 7: Then click on the BL button present on the Odin window and select the BL_N950FXXU2BQKG_CL12472670_QB15920626_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5

Step 8: Click on the CP button and select the CP_N950FXXU2BQKG_CP8204774_CL12472670_QB15920626_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 file.

Step 9: Then click on the CSC button and select the HOME_CSC_OXM_N950FOXM2BQKG_CL12472670_QB15920626_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 file.

Note: Normal CSC contains an instruction that allows Odin to wipe out complete data while HOME_CSC contains instruction to only allow wipe of cache. But when a downgrade is done (eg. from Oreo back to Nougat) a factory reset is must. So use normal CSC at that time.

Step 10: And lastly click on the AP button and select the AP_N950FXXU2BQKG_CL12472670_QB15920626_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar.md5 from the firmware package file.

Step 11: That's all. Just initiate the firmware flashing process now. For that, hit the Start button present on the Odin window.

Note: As the process goes on, your device will restart itself automatically. Do not disconnect your phone from PC as it will interrupt the firmware flashing process.

Step 12: Wait and be patient until the flashing process completes. When it completes successfully, the ID:COM section located on the Odin window will turn green with the message ‘ Pass’ on it. Also your phone will automatically boot itself. This will confirm that the official Android 7.1.1 Nougat XXU2BQKG firmware has been successfully flashed on your Samsung Galaxy Note 8 SM-N950F smartphone. Now you can disconnect your phone from PC by safely removing the USB cable.

Note: If this firmware flashing process fails or if Odin gets stuck or in case your phone gets stuck into boot loop, then close the Odin window, again go into downloading mode and implement the complete procedure as given above.
